My passion for mental health began as early as middle school. As I got older, my population of interest was adolescents because I consider this stage of life challenging to understand oneself and their place in society.
As a result, my academic journey began after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University. Then, I received a Master of Science in Psychology with a major in mental health counseling. I completed my internship in community rehabilitation in patient three level services PHP, IOP, and OP.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Bastian Health Therapy Corp. As a therapist, I have also worked in general community mental health practices. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, families, and couples. The focus is on a host of challenges including, but not limited to, mood dysregulation disorders, self-esteem issues, abuse, trauma, substance use problems, and relationship dysfunctions. Throughout my experiences, I found a passion for helping clients ranging from ages 6 to 71 years old at this time.
A personal story of healing inspired Bastian Health Therapy Corp’s inception. I was sick for days when I was little in my native country, Colombia. My mother was worried, and then one day in our home a bird flew straight into my room. The bird lay on my chest, tapped it with its peak, and flew away. The next morning, to my mother’s shock, I felt better.
The bird on the logo is a symbol of healing. Birds are often seen as a symbol of freedom, hope, and new beginnings. They may also symbolize joy, peace, and prosperity. The hands are a sign of prosperity, healing, and strength. I want to be the guide for my patients to seek a better understanding of themselves and improve their quality of life.
